Has anybody seen this article: specifically the post starting with "Hey, Apple." The issue is between the Firewire 800 converter to the mac as the system profile shows the adapter, but not the board. Apparently the guy who knows all about this stuff has been MIA and this hasn't been fixed. So it's been awhile, and I recently got a call regarding this. I can post the System Profile here again if need be, but it will have to be the file as the computer is on location with the client and I don't have fast/easy access. How many people are using the 800 to Thunderbolt adapter successfully? Did you guys have issues trying to get the device to show up? Did this person just happen to get a busted adapter? (tried 2 different FW cables)Ĭan somebody point me in the right direction? Please? Has anyone else had connection issues with an 800 to Thunderbolt adapter and the SL not showing up as a device in System Profile? I went through the Knowledgebase, but didn't see anything that jumped out at me. It isn't listed anywhere that I have noticed, but another AV buddy suggested looking at the Midi mapping. When I created a support ticket, the tech said that the System Profile was a little weird in that the SL was not showing up as a device (the converter shows up but nothing else). Found the solution about disabling App Nap (was disabled and made no difference either way). But people on the forums say it works and there was a press release that says it works. The only thing that we can think of is the Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt converter (holding this in your hand and messing with it causes the same issue, heard about the ground issue, too). I've tried 2 different Macs, updated the firmware and did a manual uninstallation and reinstallation of UC with no luck. Unplugging the cable and plugging it back in fixes the issue, for another 5 minutes. Then, sometime between 10 seconds to 5 minutes, UC freezes (it used to crash, now it just freezes). It connects and works one way (moving the faders on the board move the faders in UC, but NOT vice versa). The issue arises when connecting the board to the Mac for use with Universal Control. Basically the guy who ordered the equipment is super busy and hasn't been back by to hook it all up. I'm a computer tech and part time musician so that's how I got this gig. If you need AVB audio between more than just the mixer and the one computer, you can incorporate an AVB switch to create a full AVB network with AVDECC.I'm working on a SL 24.4.2 Ai and a brand new iMac for a client. The easiest configuration is to connect a wireless router to the mixer’s control port and then connect your computer or other remote devices to the router using either wired or wireless connections. If you would like to remote control the mixer using UC Surface or QMix-UC, the control port on the back of the mixer must be connected either directly to a control device or to the same wireless network as the device running the control software. NOTE: Because of how OSX makes the connections to AVB devices used as local Core Audio devices, recording over AVB is not supported when using Stagebox mode with your StudioLive Series III Console and a StudioLive Series III Rack mixer without using AVDECC. USB-to-Ethernet adapters do not support AVB. If your computer does not have a built-in Ethernet port, you will also need a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter. Any Mac with a Thunderbolt connection should provide hardware support for AVB. An AVB-compatible Mac running macOS 10.10 or later.
